V-Steams (vaginal baths)

While the practice of V-steams is technically not new as it has been used in ancient medicine for centuries, it has become a re-emerging trend in the United States and the latest health buzz among celebrities that swear by its benefits. Gwenoth Paltrow, Tia and Tamara Mowry to name a few. For those not familiar with exactly what Vaginal steaming is, think of it in terms of a medicinal, herbal, steam facial for the vagina. With the use of specific herbs in various arrangments depending on the health conditions, they allow for healing, toning, and providing good circulation in the womb. Typically they are done a day or two after your period in order to detox and heal inbalances in the vagina, cervix, and uterus. They are extremely beneficial done one week or 9 days after giving birth for postparum womb health. It takes about 30-35 minutes to be truely effective. Lastly, vaginal steaming has also been known to tackle several other health issues that occur in women. Listed below...

As a Postpartum Doula, I  Do Not:

Perform any clinical tasks

I am not a Doctor. I am strictly here to provide emotional support, aid, and assitance to new mothers and families. Helping them adjust and transition seamlessly to the new changes that comes when bringing baby home and emersing them into your life. I do not prescribe medicine. Any medical tasks, medical diagnoses, or anything that requires detailed medical attention outside of my expertise, I will refer you to an appropiate health care provider should the need arise.

Make decisions for you

My role as a postpartum doula is to help instill confidence in new moms enabling them to take care of their babies, "mothering the mother", and helping her connect to her innate mama insticts when my service time comes to an end.

Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience

As stated before, my job as a postpartum doula would be to help reconceptualize what happened with the birth story. Being an advocate for the mom to speak up for herself and take care of her baby. Stay present in the moment with mom and bearing witness without judgment. Surrendering and completely being there for the mama.

Herbal Body Wraps

Body wraps are extremely benefical and proven to be effective in cellulite elimination and detoxification. Acting as an external "colonic" Body wraps can aid in healing of skin problems, tone and tighten the skin, improve circulation, alleviate muscle and joint pain, treat acne, detoxify the body and help mobilize fat so it can be eliminated from the body naturally. The effectiviness of the wrap is determined by the ingredients I use given the specific issue or area of concern. Especially great for postpartum to tackle baby belly ponch. It never seems to go down, no matter the amount of exercise. However doing a body wrap can address this issue and has proven to work extremely well.

You need to set aside about 1 1/2 hours of your time for preparation and to enjoy the wrap. It is recommended that you do 1 wrap per week for at least 6 weeks and then 1 per month after that, for maintenance and continued detoxification. It is however safe enough to do a wrap every day or even multiple wraps in one day to quicken the effects. Do not do while pregnant.
